Dextrose Monohydrate USP42 5996-10-1 Usage

Dextrose Monohydrate USP42 is Colorless crystals or white crystalline powder, while it's Molecular Formula is C6H12O6.H2O. Dextrose occurs as odorless, sweet-tasting, colorless crystals or as a white crystalline or granular powder. The JP XV describes dextrose as dextrose anhydrous; the PhEur 6.3 specifies dextrose as either dextrose anhydrous or dextrose monohydrate; and the USP 32 specifies dextrose as dextrose monohydrate. Dextrose Monohydrate USP42 is a monosaccharide sugar found in honey and fruits. It is the primary product of plant photosynthesis, which is optically active and dextrorotatory. It is also metabolized by bacteria into acetic and butyric acids, lactic acid, butyl alcohol, acetone, hydrogen, carbon dioxide and many other compounds. Dextrose is widely used in solutions to adjust tonicity and as a sweetening agent.Dextrose is also used as a wet granulation diluent and binder, primarily in chewable tablets.Although dextrose is comparable as a tablet diluent to lactose, tablets produced with dextrose monohydrate require more lubrication, are less friable, and have a tendency to harden.

A Novel Robust Digital Design of a Network of Industrial Continuous Cooling Crystallizers of Dextrose Monohydrate: From Laboratory Experiments to Industrial Application

Botond Szilagyi, Kanjakha Pal, Iman Beheshti Tabar, and Zoltan K. Nagy*

Ind. Eng. Chem. Res. 2020, 59, 51, 22231–22246

The aim of the work is to optimize a large-scale continuous crystallization network used for the purification of dextrose monohydrate, by introducing a novel robust model-based digital design framework with the objective to minimize the fine index of the product size distribution, by re-adjusting the key operating parameters such as feed concentration, cooling profile, and recirculation strategy, for the current process as well as for the technically feasible configurations.
